Managing several cameras can make one wonder why we use anything more complicated than a cell phone. That said, here are several images from our time traveling, coffee plantation tour, and volcano hike taken from the "good" camera...

Note: So far the pace of blog posts for the trip has been pretty fast and furious. Internet access has been more reliable than previous years, which has helped, but please do not be concerned as posts slow in pace over the next couple days. It is likely reliable WiFi (and the energy to post) will be harder to find in our next locations.

Water Day

As expected, today was a wet, fun experience for our students. After a mercifully late breakfast time (8am), our whole group made their way to kayak on Lake Arenal. Under the watchful eyes of our guides, our group ventured across the lake in pairs to a protected cove where they immediately jumped out of their kayaks to swim... and helped de-kayak anyone too slow to put themselves in the water. Although our paddle began in a chilly rain, the sun quickly forced its way through the clouds and gave us a great view of the volcano (seen below). With sore arms, we then made our way to La Fortuna, one of the most incredible waterfalls you will find. The granite walls and towering trees frame the falls and gave our students an unforgettable setting to swim and chase fish. Our students were so impressed with the view and refreshing swim, they hardly complained about the 500 stair climb back to the bus! Coffee Tour and Volcán Arenal

Our first full day in Costa Rica required several hours of bus time, but our students had a blast with breaks touring a coffee plantation and hiking the base of a volcano. The students were excellent ambassadors at the coffee plantation and purchased as much as they learned (a ton). While hiking to the volcano, the wildlife viewing was far better than I've seen in past years and I believe this was largely due to our students' maturity and respect for the setting. I couldn't be more proud. I'm posting from my phone now so I will post some more impressive pictures later, but here are some snapshots of our fun-filled day...     Tomorrow is our "water day" as we plan to kayak, hike to a GORGEOUS waterfall, and enjoy several hours at the hot springs. If today wasn't enough, our students will certainly be worn out by tomorrow evening!
